Many small businesses are struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To help these businesses stay in touch with their customers during this difficult time, Google is providing some advertisers with ad credits. According to the official announcement, Google will be providing $340 million in ad credits to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) worldwide. Recipients may use the credits at any point until the end of 2020. Are you eligible for these Google ad credits? How and when will you receive the credits? And what else do you need to know about this offer?
What You Need to Know About the COVID-19 Google Ad Credits
Did you know that small and medium-sized businesses represent about 90 percent of all businesses? Now that people around the world are forced to practice social distancing and stay home whenever possible, many of these modestly sized businesses are struggling to stay afloat. Some have been forced to temporarily close, and many are experiencing reduced revenue and struggling to support their employees. Google has pledged to help SMBs in several ways, including providing $340 million in ad credits.
Am I eligible for the ad credits?
You are eligible for the ad credits if you meet the following criteria:
- You own a small or medium-sized business.
- You advertise directly with Google or its partners.
- You have had an active advertising account since January 1, 2019.
- You comply with all Google Ads Terms & Conditions.
If you don’t receive your credits right away, don’t worry. Be patient. According to Google, “We are in the process of building these specialized credits into Google Ads accounts, therefore notifications will not show immediately.”
When will I receive the ad credits?
If you are eligible, you will receive your ad credits “in the coming months.” Keep an eye out for a notification regarding the ad credits in your Google Ads account.
How long will the ad credits remain valid?
You can use your ad credits at any point this year. They will expire on December 31, 2020. Be sure that you use all of your ad credits because Google will remove any unused credits from your account after the expiration date.
On which platforms can I use the ad credits?
You can use the ad credits on any Google Ads platform and on all campaign types. Search, Display, and YouTube are all allowed.
If you’re eligible for these special ad credits, keep an eye on your Google Ads account and be sure to use the credits before the end of the year. While we don’t currently know how many credits the typical business will receive, we encourage you to take advantage of the offer.
